Makram proved his passion for Web design by earning his CIW certification while showing his employer that he had the ability to undertake additional projects. "A CIW certificate is a milestone in my occupation. It underscores to all employers the level of expertise that I'm up to," said Makram. "It has proved that I'm capable of handling more responsibilities and a wider range of Web-related tasks that non-certified employees."
Earning a Master CIW Designer certification leads to two promotions for Makram
Makram Saleh has a strong passion for Web design and other forms of new media. Working for Born Interactive S.A.L., a new media agency in Beirut, Lebanon, Makram sought to leverage his skills with a certificate that validated his Web-related knowledge and to take his passion for Web design to the next level.
Makram enrolled in CIW training classes at the New Horizons Learning Center. In a little over a year, he had earned his CIW Associate, CIW Professional and Master CIW Designer certifications.
"I wanted a certificate that corresponds to my constantly growing skills, and rises with my enthusiasm in the Internet and Web technologies to the subsequent level," said Makram. "CIW was definitely the right choice since it's the market leader in Web certificates that targets all aspects of a Web site."
After earning his Master CIW Designer certification, Makram was promoted from a Junior Web Production position, handling HTML and Flash production for small to medium Web sites, to a Senior Web Production position, and finally, to his current position of Production Team Leader at Born Interactive.
"The certification, along with a 2-year experience in Web production, has enabled me to easily build and lead a Web production team in my new company and join the efforts of other leaders in the company to meet the strategy of growing and expanding," said Makram.
Makram is now responsible for all front-end page structures, coding and optimization of all Web sites created by Born Interactive S.A.L, including www.lbcgroup.tv. Makram is tasked with designing, creating, and implementing a flexible XHTML/CSS page structure that interacts with a sophisticated homepage management system where the elements of the page can be moved, removed or modified easily by Web Administrators.
In addition to his full-time position, Makram also teaches "Intégration Internet" classes at the University of Balamand, Faculty of Fine Arts. Makram instills in his students a clear understanding of the nature of Web sites, so they can be effective members in a team.
Makram's passion for Web site design is continuing to flourish as he adds more and more experience to his career.
"I'm focused on improving my leadership skills and capabilities to be able to handle bigger Web projects and more diversified tasks," said Makram. "My career goal is to put both my long-term vision and my practical attitude into action and getting the most out of them."
