Purpose:

Manage departmental web presence and SharePoint site. Work within a technical team that provides professional support to clients, executives within university entities, including resolving software, hardware, security and network issues. Researches, evaluates, tests new hardware/software and makes recommendations to campus university based on findings. Manage departmental web presence and updates content.

Essential Functions:

  1. Manage and maintain all departmental web presence, Computer labs and SharePoint sites. Manage assigned department's Technology projects. Have an understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices. Work with clients to build and refine graphic designs for websites. Strong skills in Photoshop, Fireworks, or equivalent application(s). Collect text documents, images and organize content.
  2.  Configures, installs and maintains new desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile devices as well as software installs. Configures printers and multifunction devices. Advanced troubleshooting, analyzing, identify, repair and restore service of desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile devices as well as software installs. Resolve security vulnerabilities on university equipment. This includes clients and Executives in their assigned areas. Knowledge of the following server-based computer-management tools such as Cascade, SCCM, JAMF, ADUC, ARD, NetDisco, IPControl and SecureDoc consoles to resolve client incidents and requests daily.
  3. Interacts with end-users to provide professional consultation or on-site training for all aspects of end-user computing and desktop-based LAN systems software in the university environment and makes selection recommendations accordingly. Serve as liaison between OIT, clients, executives and other IT professionals on campus. Provides technical support and guidance through Tier 2-3 support and works with vendors to resolve Tier 2-3 issues.
  4. Performs other duties assigned including creating and updates online documentation for standards, services, processes and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires Bachelor's degree in IT / Computer Science or other related field.
  • Three years of practical computing work experience or high school and 7 years of any equivalent combination of education, training and significant experience.
  • Functional knowledge or hands-on design experience with Web Services.
  • Strong grasp of security principles, and how they apply to web applications.
  • A solid understanding of web application development processes, from the layout/user interface to relational database structures.
  • Strong skills in Photoshop, Fireworks, Flash or equivalent application(s).
  •  Two to four years of experience in support of PC and Mac hardware, software, and latest up-to-date OS.
  • Work experience in repairing PCs, Macs, Printers, and network connection issues.
  • Knowledge of packaging software, creating images and deploying images.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to obtain necessary certifications such as Dell, A+, Apple, JAMF CCT, Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Information Systems / Computer Science and practical experience with web development tools used to create, maintain, and update websites.
  • Two to four years of experience in support of PC and Mac hardware, software, and latest up-to-date OS.
  • Work experience in repairing PCs, Macs, Printers, and network connection issues.
  • Have excellent customer service, communication, and phone skills.
  • A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including technical writing skills.
