The CIW Difference

The CIW Difference

"CIW creates knowledge workers - people who know how to leverage multiple technologies and skills to create unique solutions."
- James Stanger,
Chief Certification Architect
for Certification Partners

The CIW (Certified Internet Web Professional) program is the world's fastest growing vendor-neutral Internet certification for the knowledge economy. More than a certification or a curriculum publisher, CIW is a Web technology standard adopted by academic institutions, governments, and businesses worldwide. CIW includes applications and competencies, but our core curriculum focuses on the foundational standards that sustain the infrastructure of IT, i.e., Web design, security, administration, networking, databases and enterprises.

Synergists verses Specialists

There is a progressive change happening in the landscape of IT. The need for focused IT specialists is being replaced by a call for IT synergists - team players who have a broader skill set in designing, integrating and troubleshooting the latest, more interdependent systems. "The intersection of business models and IT requires people with varied experience, professional versatility, multidiscipline knowledge and technology understanding - a hybrid professional, in other words," said Diane Morello, Gartner Fellow and Research Vice President, in a 2008 Gartner press release ("Gartner Warns of a Looming Talent Shortage," Feb. 7, 2008. CIW is poised for the change, covering a broad array of industry-standards-based technologies as defined by our advisory council.
